在一天漆黑夜里张老汉家的狗突然狂叫起来，张老汉刚想起来出去看个究竟，就听院外传来寻人的声音。
好像是谁家丢了人，深更半夜地在着急寻找，一会找人的就走远了，可自家的狗却还在撕心裂肺地叫。
张老汉实在睡不下去了，这才披上衣服出来看个究竟。

张老汉出来后发现，月光下大花正冲着柴草垛大叫，张老汉来到柴草垛旁一看，原来柴草垛里藏着一位浑身发抖的年轻女人，年轻女人见了他象见了救命恩人一样可伶巴巴地说：“大爷救救我吧，我如果被他们抓回去，非叫他们打死不可。
”

张老汉本来就是一位热心肠的人，他那里见过这样的场面，忙回头嚇住大花，然后一手把年轻女人拉起来说：“姑娘快起来到屋里慢慢和大爷说。

年轻女人跟张老汉来到屋里，一看张老汉对自己并无恶意，才放心地对张老汉讲述了自己的经过：原来年轻女人是被拐子拐卖到他们村的，给村东头老王家的大傻儿子当了媳妇，那个大傻子拿她根本不当人看，一天到晚的打她，可王家人却不管她的死活，不但不制止傻子对她的殴打，还怕她逃跑整天把她绑在床上不让她活动。
今天夜里傻子心血来潮，把绑着她的绳子解开，想扒光她的衣服行事，她一着急踢了傻子一脚，结果把傻子踢晕了，她这才抓机会逃了出来。
可她刚逃到张老汉家门口，王家的人就追了过来，一着急无意中推了一把张老汉家的院门门没插，她顺势躲进院子的柴草垛里。
可大花却是一个不省油的灯，很快就发现了她，吓得她甭怕被王家人发现抓回去，所以正在柴草垛里发抖呢。

张老汉听了年轻女人的讲述，然后再在灯光下仔细看了看那位年轻女人，只见那位年轻女人长得到挺好看的，可是身上却被王家大傻子打得浑身全是伤，淤青红肿没块好肉。
张老汉一看心痛地帮她擦了药，然后又给她煮来两大碗香喷喷的面条，等那位年轻女人吃完面，天还没亮张老汉就把她送出了村，以后只能靠她自己逃命了。

三天后，那位可怜的年轻女人还是被抓回来了，王家肯定又是对她一顿毒打、折磨，哭声、惨叫声惨不忍睹。
张老汉偷偷地从门缝里看见，那位年轻女人被绑在一颗小树上，浑身上下全是血，那个罪可是受老喽！张老汉有心想闯进去救她，可自己身单力薄哪能救得了呢？他只好忍下了。

到了深夜张老汉又偷偷来到王家院门外，他从门缝里一看，只见那位年轻女人还被绑在那颗小树上，耷拉着脑袋一点精神都没有。
张老汉忙叫大花从狗洞爬进去，给那位年轻女人送去两个包子充饥。
可大花进去后就把那位年轻女人从小树上解了下来，然后又从狗洞爬出来。
张老汉在门外看着那位年轻女人狼吞虎咽地吃着包子，心里默默地说：姑娘，老汉我没多大能力帮你，这就算我对你一点小小的心意吧，但愿你早日能逃脱苦海。
年轻女人见到了大花，心里就明白了是张老汉在门外，她一面吃着包子一面向门外投来感激的目光。
张老汉见那位年轻女人吃完了包子，才带着大花回了家。

可是到了第二天天刚亮，张老汉就听到街道上大傻子的哭喊声：“娘！我要媳妇，我要活媳妇。
”原来是那位年轻女人在夜里，等吃完了张老汉给她的包子，不堪忍受王家对她的孽待，一时想不开，在那颗小树上吊死了。
她死后的样子特别惨，扭曲着脸，翻着白眼，舌头吐出来好长好长，鼻子和嘴里还流出来好多黑血。
这天张老汉一窝囊，头一眩晕了过去，在屋里整整躺了一天没出家。

到了深夜，张老汉正躺在炕上发汗，突然听到自己的院门被撞开了，紧接着又听到大傻从院子里喊：“二，就是大花给媳妇松的绑，打！给哥打死它。
”原来大傻在昨天夜里，看见大花给那位年轻女人松绑和喂包子着，所以媳妇得死就记在大花头上了。
白天忙着埋人，没顾得上找大花算账，这时他来了精神，拉着他弟弟，撞开张老汉家的院门要把大花打死。

张老汉听到院子里的吵闹声，就明白了是怎么回事，他哪能叫大傻他们把大花打死呢，所以连衣服都没披，跌跌撞撞地从屋里冲出来护住了大花。
大傻一看张老汉冲出来更凶了，又对他弟弟喊道：“二，也有这糟老头的份，就是他带大花去的，打！给我一块打。
”大傻说着，抄起手中的木棒就朝张老汉头顶砸来。

可就在这时，黑影里轻飘飘飞来一位年轻女人，一把抓住大傻手里的木棒，大傻手里的木棒被她一抓再也落不下去了，急的大傻嗷嗷直叫唤。
这时大傻的弟弟一见那位年轻女人，吓得拉住大傻调头就跑，一面跑还一面鬼哭狼嚎地喊：“鬼！闹鬼了。
”

张老汉一见那位年轻女人也是一愣，这不就是上吊死了的那位年轻女人吗？她怎么会出现在这里，难道她没死？张老汉想到这忙热情地向那位年轻女人走去，可那位年轻女人却一面向后退着，一面对张老汉友好地说：“大爷您别过来，我已经死了，我是刚死的鬼，阴气太重会伤到您的。
”

可张老汉听了，却不以为然地说：“姑娘，我不管你是人是鬼，我就只知道你是好姑娘，你死的冤呀，可大爷我没能力救你，你却来救我们，大爷我谢谢你了。
”张老汉说着就去拉那位年轻女人冰冷的手，可他那里能拉的到哇。

那位年轻女人听了张老汉的话，感激地眼泪差点没下来，可她却没有眼泪，只好又对张老汉说：“大爷您老可别这样说，您和大花不也救过我吗？您们也是我的恩人呀！这也就算是我对您们的报恩吧。
大爷请您多保重，我该走了。
”那位年轻女人说着，又轻飘飘地走进了黑影里。

张老汉看着那位年轻女人离去的背影，感激地不知再说什么好了。
第二天张老汉咬咬牙，来到公安局报了案。
